I am happy to introduce StartupDigest, a newsletter that keeps you up to date with the latest news, community and events in your area. The Icelandic startup ecosystem is now part of the extensive StartupDigest network - check out the whole list here.

Korka is an online community of female entrepreneurs, which aims to connect women in entrepreneurship and build a platform for knowledge sharing. Korka Awesomeness is a monthly networking event featuring talks by entrepreneurs. On October 1st,  Margrét Jónsdóttir Njarðvík will give a talk on different form of tourism.

Nýsköpunarhádegi, organized by Klak Innovit entrepreneurship center, is a lecture series featuring talks by entrepreneurs and are held each Tuesday during lunch hour. On October 8th, Svana Helen Björnsdóttir CEO of Stiki and chairman of the Federation of Icelandic Industries, will give a talk on the challenges facing startups when growing out of Iceland. The lecture will be held in Icelandic.

The University of Iceland School of Health Sciences is holding an innovation conference for the first time this fall. The idea behind the conference is to give students and staff of the School of Health Sciences an opportunity to publicly present their innovation. Moreover the conference is supposed to give health scientists a platform to meet, greet and exchange ideas. The conference will be informal and participants will be able to present their work with presentations, posters, videos and prototypes.

Startup Weekend Reykjavik (€20)

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1000 past events in 400 cities around the world. All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation.
