Show Congress You Want Our Kids to Be Healthy and Hunger-Free!

This Thanksgiving season, you can help push the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act over the finish line—just by taking a photo. With one in four children at risk of hunger, and one in three obese or overweight, we can’t afford not to act.

Unanimously passed by the Senate and supported by more than 1,300 national, state and local organizations, the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (S. 3307) will:
  •  Improve school meals;
  •  Support farmers through farm to school programs;
  •  Address skyrocketing obesity rates; and
  •  Feed more hungry children.
But unless the bill reaches the President’s desk soon after Thanksgiving, supporters will have to start over in the new Congress. The House is slated to vote on December 1st or 2nd, so now is the time to show our support.

Show Congress you want them to pass the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, by joining a nationwide photo petition drive this Thanksgiving season! Here’s how.
  1. Make a sign urging Congress to pass the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act.
  2. Take a photo with your sign!
  3. Spread the word! Get your kids, friends and family members involved, too.
  4. Email your photo(s) with your name and location (city, state) to photopetition@foodsecurity.org by Monday, November 29th.**
We will compile everyone’s photos and deliver the petition to Congress as soon as they return from the Thanksgiving break. Your participation will help to ensure that kids across the US have access to healthy food throughout the year – not just on Thanksgiving.

Thank you for taking action by Monday, November 29th!

**Note: If your file is too large to send via email, or you have multiple photos, email photopetition@foodsecurity.org, and we will provide you with further instructions to share your photos with us.
