Recap: NJ Action Coalition Academic Progression Summit: October 4th

On October 4, the New Jersey Action Coalition hosted a Summit on academic progression with over 200 people (mostly nurses) in attendance, representing both practice and academic partners in nursing.  Assemblywoman Nancy F. Muñoz, a nursing champion, attended to learn more about NJ’s work on academic progression in nursing.

The summit provided a national and state perspective on the Future of Nursing IOM Report recommendation to increase the proportion of nurses with a baccalaureate degree.  It also provided a time for dialogue on how practice and academia can collaborate to meet the Future of Nursing Core Competencies©.  A panel of three teams demonstrated how to develop a competency based approach to academic progression.
