U3A Adelaide - 30 years young!

U3A is a world-wide volunteer-run movement dedicated to the education and stimulation of the retired members of our community - people in their ‘third age’.

The first U3A in South Australia began in Adelaide in 1986. Today, U3A Adelaide has over 850 members enrolled in almost 200 courses. Activities are held at the Box Factory Community Centre.

The program runs from February to November and includes year long courses and short courses. 

There are 17 U3A groups in Adelaide and country South Australia.

Heard about The Joinery? 

South Australia's peak environment organisation, Conservation SA, has established a community environment space called The Joinery in the city of Adelaide. It is the focal point for environment, sustainability and community groups, As it develops it will include gardens, cafe, kitchen, displays, meeting and exhibition space and events.

From 1 July 2015, jobactive begins. This is the Australian Government's employment service to assist jobseekers and employers. It includes Work for the Dole and the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme.
