Smallholder Farmers Roadshow Workshops

The Scottish Fair Trade Forum are joining up with Christian Aid and Just Trading Scotland to go on a smallholder farmers roadshow around Scotland!

With the help of local groups we will be delivering free workshops around Scotland on smallholders in Malawi, how climate change is affecting smallholders around the world and the impact fair trade can have.
The first two workshops will be in Dunscore on the 9th June and Inverness on the 20th June - you can find out more and book tickets by clicking on the links!

We are hopeful that we may have two farmers from Malawi at the Inverness workshop, visas depending!

Please help us spread the word about these two workshops and we hope to see you there. There will be more workshops around Scotland after the summer.
International Fair Trade Towns Conference

The 2015 International Fair Trade Towns Conference is taking place in Bristol on 4 and 5 July.

The conference is international and has recently been in Japan and Norway. A Bristol-based conference offers an excellent opportunity for Fair Trade Groups from Scotland to attend more easily and it would be great to have as many Scottish Fair Trade Town/City/Village/Zone/Island groups represented at the conference. To enable this as much as possible the Scottish Fair Trade Forum is offering half price delegate tickets for the whole weekend to Groups at £35 each (normal price £70).

Local Fair Trade Groups can also apply to our Community Grants Scheme for funds of up to £250 to assist with the costs of travel and accommodation at the conference, regardless of whether you get your ticket from us or from the organisers. For details of how to apply and the application form click here.

Please let us know if you would like a reduced price delegate ticket (2 maximum per group) by emailing info@sftf.org.uk . Please note that there are a limited number of tickets available from us at the reduced rate on a first come first served basis and limited funding support - so email us asap!

Sending a reminder to all primary and secondary school pupils about our exciting hoodie competition now open!

If you haven’t already heard Scottish Fair Trade Forum has a competition available for pupils to design their very own hoodie in connection to the theme of Fairtrade cotton. Six winning designs will be chosen and made courtesy of Craft Aid (Mauritius) and Koolskools. The successful designers will be presented with their hoodies during Fairtrade Fortnight 2016.

The closing date for submissions is August 31st 2015. We encourage all pupils to get designing to ensure they are happy with their completed designs in time for the submission deadline.

Please see our website for the entry pack which has all the information you need to design and submit your hoodie.

Good Luck!
