The Unitary Plan is here!

The Unitary Plan (UP) was launched with much fanfare on 15 March and most Aucklanders are taking some time to absorb its implication for our future.
The ERA held a public meeting prior to the UP launch and more than 40 interested parties attended and gave their view on what they want for Ellerslie’s future in relation to Transport, Urban development/ Housing, Utilities, Sport grounds / Green space, Economy, Arts & Culture, Environment & Climate Change and Heritage & Character. All views expressed have been summarized and will be used in the preparation of the ERA draft submission to be circulated prior to the next ERA public meeting on 20 May.
The closing date for submissions to Auckland Council is 31 May.

The Orakei Local Board is holding a public meeting next Tuesday 16 April in the Leicester Hall, 20 Findlay Street. Ellerslie residents are invited to find out about the draft UP and to hear about what is likely to change in Ellerslie.
“The UP sets out what can be built and where we live, where we work and how we look after the things we value” – OLB Flier"
The ERA can tell you that the draft UP contains several zoning changes which will be of concern as they will affect our historic character and impact on ongoing issues such as traffic, parking and safety.
Please make an effort to attend this meeting if you can and let the Orakei Local Board here our concerns.
The Maungakiekie Tamaki Local Board is also holding community engagement/feedback sessions on Wednesday, 17 April 1pm-4pm at the Glen Innes Community Centre, 96 Line Road, Glen Innes and on Wednesday, 24 April 9.30am-12.30pm at the Onehunga Community Centre, 83 Church Street, Onehunga. Again if you can attend please make the effort.

Note that this meeting will follow the ERA Annual General Meeting which will begin at 7pm – we would love to see you there too.
