Idaho Historical Society Needs Your Nominations NOW
As Idaho approaches its 150th territorial birthday, the Idaho State Historical Society is asking for your help in creating an exhibit!   We’d like to know, “What are the things that distinguish our state?” The responses will be used to create a special sesquicentennial exhibit entitled “Essential Idaho: 150 Things that Make the Gem State Unique.”  The deadline is January 31, 2012, so fill out our online form or go to http://history.idaho.gov/essential-idaho and tell us about the person, place, thing or event that you think makes Idaho unique.  Submit the entry online or call 334-2120 and a form will be mailed to you.

President LincolnThe exhibit will open on March 4, 2013, the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln signing the bill that created a place named “Idaho” on the U.S. map. “As Idaho prepares to commemorate its first 150 years, we seek to commemorate  its diverse landscape, remarkable people, and fascinating history with this exhibit that that defines what Idaho means from those who know it best,” said Janet Gallimore, the Society’s executive director.
