Leading a Nonprofit Board: A Toolkit for Board Chairs

In this session, Karen Lehman, President & CEO of MHS, will be in conversation with Alisa Miller, Managing Director of MHS Consulting, regarding the new MHS Board Chair Toolkit. This tool was designed with the Chair role in mind, and seeks to offer insights on preparing for the role of Chair, limitations of the role, meeting planning and leadership, Robert’s Rules of Order, preparing to leave the role, and maintaining health and balance. Karen and Alisa will provide leadership tips and ideas that are considered governance best practices, as well as tips for creating effective Board Chair and CEO partnerships.

Presenter: AnaYelsi Velasco-Sanchez, an IndoLatinx mujerista working to create and agitate her way through the Latin diaspora. She is an educator, consultant, writer and artist working to assist people in building an interlocking framework for justice.

This two-part event will offer an hour-long presentation, followed by an hour of caucus/accountability groups, reporting back and closing.

Host: Melissa Florer-Bixler, member of the WiL steering committee and pastor of Raleigh Mennonite Church in North Carolina.

Eastern Mennonite University logoMeeting the Challenges of COVID 19: Spiritually, Emotionally, and Economically

The Faith-Based Health Ministries Network sponsors an annual conference to resource faith community nurses, pastors, and faith-based health ministries and non-profits. Due to the pandemic, this will be a virtual conference.

Date: October 23, 2020
Time: 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Cost: $30.00

Contact Hours: Available for registered nurses, and CEUs for pastors. EMU is an approved provider by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for non-credit continuing education for registered nurses.  For this event, 3 contact hours for nurses, and .25 CEU's for pastors.
