Dear Lancer Families,

As was mentioned in the community update email dated June 22nd regarding the reopening of athletics, the Orange Lutheran Sports Medicine Staff is working diligently to address all factors and potential scenarios during this time of change.  This team will continue to monitor and track all guidelines provided and set forth by the CDC, CIF, NFHS, state, and regional health and safety organizations, and make the required adjustments to their plans accordingly.  In addition, they have developed specific plans for athletic programs to follow and have trained our coaching staff on these appropriate safety measures.

In addition, per the NFHS and CIF safety guidelines, please note that during this time, athletes who are injured should stay home because on-campus rehabilitation and/or preventative treatments (taping, ice, heat, etc.) cannot be provided.  The athletic training staff will still be present for the screening and emergency care of athletes.  In addition, any athlete who is sick must stay home.

For health and safety reasons, the following items should be adhered to each day.
  • All athletes need to come dressed and prepared for practice each day, as locker rooms will be closed during this time.
  • Water fountains and coolers will be closed, so athletes will need to bring at least 32oz of water to practice each day.  In addition, the sharing of water bottles/containers is strictly prohibited.
  • Athletes must bring their own food/snacks, as food will not be provided and/or distributed by parents and/or coaches.  In addition, the sharing of food is strictly prohibited.
  • At this time, when entering, exiting, in transit, and indoors on campus, athletes must wear a face covering. Face coverings may only be removed when athletes are outdoors and have been given permission by a coach or another OLu staff member to do so, and this will only be allowed when social distancing can be maintained (at least 6 feet apart), which would apply to exercise.
  • Athletes will be required to follow the screening process each time they enter campus.
  • Parents, family members, and all other visitors will not be allowed to attend practices and other activities at this time.
  • Hands will be sanitized upon entering and exiting campus each time.
  • Athletes are required to leave campus as soon as practice is over.  Gatherings in the parking lot or other areas on campus are not permitted.
Should you have any questions, please contact your program coach, Interim Athletic Director, Karen Kekipi at karen.kekipi@lhsoc.org, and/or Head Athletic Trainer, Ryan Lisk at ryan.lisk@lhsoc.org.

Blessings,

Mrs. Karen Kekipi
Interim Athletic Director
