Planet Project Year in Review

Welcome to 2023!

Last year the Planet Project found its legs. Since publishing our first newsletter and launching our website in March, we have published 13 blogs, initiated 2 campaigns and seen our newsletter subscribers list grow to over 200 subscribers. Our curated databases now include more than 150 aligned change agents and nearly 70 expressions of positive culture. Our online Planet Community has grown to over 40 members since its launch in July.

We are very grateful to those of you who have joined us in our quest to accelerate the shift towards a civilization that empowers all people to thrive and a culture of sacred regard for all life and the Planet. We also recognize these are just baby steps towards our ultimate goal of shifting global culture.
 
Here is a quick look at the themes we are pursuing in 2023:

• Ramp up our curation efforts
• Launch a Planetary Alliance of aligned change agents
• Launch Planet Circles, both local (in person) and virtual
• Attract more members to the Planet Movement
• Attract deeper engagement within the Planet Community

We also want to forge a greater sense of community by providing more opportunities for interaction. Accordingly, we hope you will save the date and join us for our inaugural “Shift-Kicking Planet Zoom Event” next week Wednesday, January 18th, at 7pm MDT. More details and link to join will be emailed Tuesday next week.

Take the Plunge – The 14-Day New Year’s Challenge

In this time of New Year’s resolutions, we invite you to deepen your engagement with the Planet Movement by committing to our 14-Day New Year’s Challenge.

FIRST CHALLENGE:
Take a few moments to reflect on our beautiful planet and imagine the highest, best possible vision for life on earth. What does that look like for you? Write down your answer in 2-4 sentances. Congratulations! You have just completed the first challenge task!

To participate in the rest of this challenge, you need to be a member of our online Planet Community. Joining the community is easy, has no cost, and is ad-free. If you are not already a member, click here to request to join.

Over the next 14 days, we will send out a challenge task every day or two with a single action you can take. Don’t worry… if you miss a day, you can always catch up. By default, every member of the Planet Community is considered to be a participant in the challenge, but you can opt out at any time.

A Time Between Worlds - our latest blog

Permacrisis. That’s a new word Collins Dictionary has chosen as the word of the year for 2022, defining it as an extended period of instability and insecurity, esp one resulting from a series of catastrophic events. It’s synonymous with polycrisis and a meta-crisis. Whatever you call it, we've never seen anything like this before.

But there is an alternative.

You're Invited: ALL Careers Virtual Event on Jan 25th

In November, we issued a challenge to the members of our extended community (especially those of you who live in Boulder County) to help us make the ALL Careers Contest a success. So far entries have come from Peak To Peak Charter School, Arapahoe Ridge HS, Bountyhaus School Farms, Peak to Peak High School, and Centaurus DECA.

On January 25th a virtual event is planned and you're invited: Youth and Green Business — Making Connections and Advances in Boulder County. Paul Jerde, Former E.D. of CU’s Deming Center for Entrepreneurship and other special guests, will share thoughts about the importance of linking youth and green business opportunities, and high school students will talk about the ALL Careers approach. These initial comments will serve as a catalyst to explore:

• How is this approach being used in high schools to empower young people to be part of the creation of a green economy?
• What businesses in our area are leading the charge to the development of a green economy and how might they mentor and interact with youth?
• How can the ALL Careers contest energize and encourage further sustainable actions?
