AU Theatre Department to present spring musical

Campus Shot

Rehearsals are underway for the spring musical, “Fugitive Songs: A Song Cycle” by Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen. The musical explores the human desire to grow and change and fight against enduring odds. The cast of 12 Aurora University students perform 17 thematically linked songs in a virtual performance set to stream April 14–18. The performers are joined by eight students who serve as camera crew, stage managers, set construction crew, and assistant directors. Register to watch the performance online at auartsandideas.com.

A Message from the Dean

Greetings from Dunham Hall and welcome to spring!

In this installment of my biweekly newsletter, I would like to share some reminders and news of upcoming events. Please feel free to direct any academic questions to me or my colleagues:

I want to encourage you to (re)join us on campus, in a safe and healthy way. Now that spring is upon us, there's a renewed energy on campus. As we return to a new normal, an important step you can take is to engage more with the campus community. Swing by Dunham Hall and see your professors. Gather safely with a small group friends for a study session in Dunham Atrium. Grab lunch or a snack from the Dining Hall or Spartan Spot. I look forward to seeing each of you in the coming days and weeks!

Join us on Sunday, April 11, at 7 p.m. for the next installment of the Sundays @ 7 Career Conversations. Our guest will be Emiliano Pance ’13, an AU computer science alumnus. Ponce, a senior systems engineer with Tada Cognitive Solutions, has software engineering experience at both a Fortune 500 company and a small start-up company. He has worked with a variety of different languages, libraries, and technology solutions such as Java, JavaScript, React, Express, MongoDB, and Azure. Spartan Summer 2021

We are just two months from the start of our all new Spartan Summer experiences. As I mentioned in my prior newsletter, registration has begun for summer 2021. In most cases, undergraduate summer 2021 classes will be offered in a hybrid format.

The Dunham School of Business and Public Policy will be offering specific courses designed to give you a jump start on your career. These classes are designed to go above and beyond your other coursework and give you a competitive edge in the job market or professional school. I would like to note two courses of particular interest, Technology Immersion BUS2811 and Law School Preparation PSC3813. To learn more about these courses and other classes, check out The Spartan Summer website.

Plus One Programs

We are about to enter our fourth year of the Plus One programs. This year, we are offering a new version of the MBA program that branches into four areas of specialization:

  • Business Management
  • Digital Marketing
  • Public Administration
  • Sport Management

As of this writing, with vaccinations accelerating and changes in CDC guidance regarding social distancing, we are planning on launching the Plus One MBA program in person…though this could change as we respond to external public health concerns. To apply or learn more, please visit the Plus One website or email Tyler Carlson, graduate admission counselor, at tcarlson@aurora.edu.
