Campus Public Safety moves to centralized location

Campus Shot

Campus Public Safety (CPS) has moved into a new space on the ground floor of the parking garage at 1405 Prairie St. The new location will allow for convenient access to police officers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All of the Aurora University CPS officers are highly trained with many years of law enforcement experience. The mission of CPS is to provide outstanding police services and promote a safe and secure living and working environment through community education and preparedness.

A Message from the Dean

Dear Students:

I absolutely love this time of year on campus. The fall mums have been planted throughout the grounds and the leaves on the trees are turning beautiful fall colors. Soon we will have our annual fall break which signifies the halfway point of the semester. This year, fall break is scheduled for October 15–17 with no traditional day classes during that time.

Morning of Service
This Saturday, October 9, is our annual Morning of Service, when the campus comes together to make a difference in our community. Check-in is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. in the Hill Center for Student Success just south of the parking garage. We will then depart to local agencies at 9 a.m. This opportunity is open to any undergraduate or graduate student at AU. To register or for more information, visit the Morning of Service webpage.

Study Areas
As midterm approaches, I would also like to draw attention to areas on campus for you to gather and study. These are wonderful spots that are open to students and some even have free drinks and snacks! The library is always a perfect resource. The Wackerlin Center and the Hill Center for Student Success have free water, coffee, and light snacks available for students. I encourage you to take advantage of the areas on campus where you can hang out between classes; there are many spaces that are quiet and conducive to studying.

Finally, I would like to remind you that the 2022–2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opened last week. You will want to file your FAFSA to be considered for federal, state, and institutional aid as soon as possible. Only your 2020 taxes and W-2s are needed. Visit and enter AU school code 001634.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions. Be well and stay safe, Spartans!

What we're reading

Alumni Hall and Stephens Hall continue to serve students four decades after expansions

There have been many enhancements and additions to the Aurora campus since its founding in 1912. Forty years ago, two buildings were expanded. The dining hall was added to Alumni Hall and a new laboratory wing was built in Stephens Hall (known then as Stephens Hall of Science). In recent years, the dining hall has been renovated and expanded, providing students with additional spaces to socialize and dine. The main portion of Stephens Hall continues to house science labs as well as a theatre studio, art studio, and greenhouse.
