Spartan hockey teams reach impressive goal

Campus Shot

The AU men's and women's hockey teams have enjoyed a successful season on the ice. Both teams set school records for number of wins this year. Way to go, Spartans!

A Message from the Dean

Dear Students:

Let’s talk about the month of February. This time of year means that you are well into the semester and you are completing many important assignments. Your internship is up and running. You are doing many things while modifying your plans when hurdles are present. Your flexibility and fluidity are being challenged daily.

Spring is coming soon! Short-term goals are important, as are long-term goals. Take the time to review them, especially pertaining to graduation and your goal will become a reality. You got this!

In fact, May graduation is just around the corner for many of you. For those graduating this spring, please file the WebAdvisor Graduation Application as soon as possible. You must apply before the deadline of Friday, February 25. If you are an undergraduate student and have any questions regarding your degree completion date, you may contact your academic advisor. (See contact information below.) If you are a graduate student, please reach out to your advisor for graduation check information. All graduation candidates must submit the Graduation Application regardless of participation in the ceremony. For more information about commencement, visit

As we approach the middle of the semester, I wanted to remind you of some important staff members who are available to help you plan and fulfill your course requirements at AU. In the School of Education and Social Work, we have five dedicated academic advisors:

Luke Kerber

Kendra Trudo

These advisors can explain the requirements of your degree; help you plan future classes; guide you through course registration; assist with exploring, adding, or removing majors and/or minors; and discuss any class concerns. You can contact your advisor by email or phone, or schedule an appointment via Handshake. You can also drop by his/her office on Fridays from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. or via Zoom.

Now, let’s talk about summer. Registration will open for Spartan Summer on Monday, February 21, via WebAdvisor. AU’s convenient summer offerings cover a variety of topics to help you move forward with your degree and beyond. Dive into an AU summer course to:

  • Complete a prerequisite.
  • Ease your spring or fall course load.
  • Acquire more skills or explore a new area of study.
  • Stay on track for graduation.
  • Concentrate on one course at a time.

Our next School of Education and Social Work newsletter will offer more details. Keep reading the newsletters.

We are in this together. Supports are in place to help with course registration and steps needed for graduation. Stay on top of your email and AU text alerts. Remember, your advisor is ready to help create a solid progression plan for your educational experiences.

Let’s stay connected.
