Congratulations, Class of 2021!

Campus Shot

More than 1,200 undergraduate and graduate students will be graduating from Aurora University this weekend. The campus will host four commencement ceremonies: Graduate (371 participants); BA and BSW (386 participants); BS and BSN (265 participants); and a special ceremony for the returning Class of 2020 (280 participants). A ceremony will also be held on the George Williams College campus (156 participants, including members of the returning Class of 2020). We look forward to welcoming all graduates into the alumni family!

A Message from the Dean

Greetings from Dunham Hall:

YOU MADE IT! You are crossing the finish line for the 2020­­–2021 academic year! This will certainly be a year we won’t soon forget. We have come through a pandemic, widespread social and political upheaval, and an economic downturn (and rebound) not seen in generations. However, despite all these challenges, you and your peers persevered and can now say, “I MADE IT!” You have emerged on the other side of this year stronger and more resilient. We are all so very proud of you!

Spring 2021 Commencement 
Undergraduate and graduate ceremonies for the Aurora University main campus are planned for Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2, 2021. Go online to learn more about the spring 2021 graduation ceremonies. If you have questions, please email

Plus One MBA Graduate Program Summer 2021 
It’s still not too late to join our June 1 start of the Plus One MBA program. Our MBA Plus One graduate program allows you to complete your master's degree in one year. The program finishes in May 2022. This year we are offering four areas of specialization: (i) business management, (ii) digital marketing, (iii) public administration, and (iv) sport management. More information is available online.

Spartan Summer 2021 
As a final reminder, registration for summer courses is still open for current AU students. Students enrolled at other colleges should contact the Registrar's Office for more details or sign up to receive updates here. Spartan Summer benefits include:

  • FREE Select Immersive and Professional Preparation courses.
  • Other courses have special undergraduate summer pricing of $425 per credit hour. (This pricing does not apply to graduate or Plus One courses.)
  • Students can apply for financial aid.

Fall 2021/Spring 2022 Registration for Classes Open 
If you haven't registered for classes for next year yet, be sure to do so as soon as possible. If you have earned under 30 credits or need assistance registering, please schedule an appointment with your student success advisor via Handshake or call 630-844-6870.   

Final Course Grade Appeals 
If you want to appeal a final course grade, the formal process starts with completing the Appeal a Course Grade petition. Full details regarding the criteria for a grade appeal and the process can be found in the 2020–2021 Undergraduate and Graduate Regulations and Policies document (see pages 97–98).

What we're reading

Kimberly and James Hill Center for Student Success to open soon
Construction is nearing completion on the 7,000-square-foot Kimberly and James Hill Center for Student Success. The building, located adjacent to the Wackerlin Center for Faith and Action on the southwest perimeter of campus, will open this fall. It will be home to AU's alumni relations and career services efforts, and also will include space for Spartan Attic, a closet with professional clothing and accessories to ensure students have appropriate attire for interviews, internships, and work settings.
