Beaumont Blast 3/13/16

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PSSA TESTS AT THE HSA MEETING - MARCH 16, WED., 9:15AM
Join us for the HSA general meeting on Wednesday, March 16, at 9:15am in the Large Group Room. All Beaumont parents are encouraged to come and find out more about spring plans at Beaumont, including an overview on the upcoming PSSA testing (for Grades 3 - 4) by Principal Dr. Demming. For more information about the PSSA (Pennsylvania System School Assessment), view document.

The HSA Board has also proposed changes to the Beaumont HSA By-Laws to be presented, for approval, at the meeting. Changes include the option to split the President Position into 2 Co-President positions. Please contact
Courtney O’Brien if you have any questions or concerns.
A FUN MOVIE NIGHT
Thank you for having your children join us to watch Minions last Friday and supporting the HSA. About 200 students who have seen Minions multiple times already, came to watch it with their friends. They were greeted by friendly life-sized Minions. Many children were dressed in pajamas and brought their pillows and blankets. The quality of the projector and sound system was much improved, thanks to the generous gift from the HSA. A special thanks to Movie Night Co-Chairs, Magan Pilato and Andrea Krick, for organizing the relaxed event and letting students vote for the movie this year. As always, thank you to the parent volunteers for helping the evening run smoothly.

FIRST GRADE: PUBLISHED BOOKS, NEED SIGNED RELEASE FORMS BY APRIL 6, WED.
For over 20 years, Beaumont Elementary along with other T/E elementary schools have been publishing individual students' books. Each Beaumont First Grader is currently writing and illustrating his/her own book entitled "All About Me." This year, we are using the publishing company, Studentreasures, to professionally bind the books. The HSA has generously paid for one book per child. If you have a First Grader and would like to purchase additional copies of your child’s book, you can pre-order them directly from Student Treasures. They make great memorable gifts. There is no obligation to purchase an extra book, but we need to make sure that each child's parent/guardian signs and returns the release form to the student's teacher by April 6. Mark your calendars for the Author's Tea on Thursday, June 9, at 9:15am, when the children will present their books to parents/family. For questions on book orders, contact Claudette McCarron.

FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE - APRIL 9, SAT.
Have you sent in your RSVP cards for Beaumont's 13th annual Father-Daughter Dance on Saturday, April 9, from 6:00 - 8:30pm? It's a memorable night for girls to invite their special dates (fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or brothers) for an evening of dancing, being with friends and savoring yummy treats. RSVP by March 30 and pay in advance, since the admission price increases if paid on the day of the dance. Please consider contributing to the event by: volunteering and decorating, helping with stations, or donating food/beverages. Sign up on http://vols.pt/vVFVAb. For questions, contact Lesley Dente.

• Students should only exit cars on the sidewalk near the carpool double doors.
• Drive slowly at all times including on your drive out after your child has exited your car.
• Please be aware of cars in front of you where students may still be exiting.

PHILLY LOVE WALL
It's a wrap...of love. Thanks to all who helped their children participate in sharing their kindness on the Philly Love Wall at Beaumont this past month. It could also be called a Wall of Inspiration. In case you didn't have a chance to see it, here is just a taste of what the MANY hearts on there said: "I cleaned my brother's room and my mom's room"; "I gave my little sister a kiss goodnight"; "I helped shovel snow for a neighbor"; "Made snack bags for the homeless"; "I helped my mom calm my sister down"; "I helped my sister with her homework". We are blessed to have a community of such helpful, kind kids at Beaumont! Thank you to the Community Service Committee Co-Chairs, Jean Allen, Jen Bacani, Valerie Cheng, and Becky Pitofsky for putting it all together.

T&E CARE IS LOOKING FOR KIDS CLOTHES
T&E Care is looking for donations of new or gently used clothing for infants through teens for its upcoming Kids’ Clothing Grab Bag. There will be a collection box at Beaumont from March 31 - April 8. Clothing for all seasons, plus good quality shoes, boots, coats, belts, or other accessories will be accepted. There will be a teen girls Pop-up Shop again this year – so we’ll need lots of teen girls clothes to help make this special! The Kids' Clothing Grab Bag will take place on April 15 and 16 at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church. This fundraiser for T&E Care is a great chance for everyone to restock your kids’ closets with great quality clothes. A suggested donation of $10/bag is appreciated. For questions, contact clothes@tecare.org. For more information, visit T&E Care's website. Groups or individuals looking for community service hours? Help sort the T&E Care grab bag donations. What a great way to help your community! If interested, contact Autumn O'Reilly.
