Mappedin landed a deal with the second largest real estate investment trust in the US for their digital indoor navigation. The company spent four months building the way-finding and 3D models for Simon Property Group, which owns or has an interest in 264 million square feet of commercial buildings.
A month full of pitches! These are the three pitch competitions to attend in March:
1. Problem Pitch Competition(March 7):Each competitor has chosen an industry problem, researched its background, importance, and stakeholders, and will now pitch this knowledge to a panel of judges for a share of $5,000 in grant funding to develop a solution.
2. Velocity Fund $5K Qualifiers(March 15 & 16): A chance to see UWaterloo's newest startups! Up to 40 teams pitch their startup ideas over two nights to a panel of judges from the local startup community. The top 10 teams are invited to pitch at the Velocity Fund Finals on March 30 for their chance to win one of three $5,000 prizes.
3. Velocity Fund Finals(March 30): An action-packed day, with $125,000 in prizes awarded to seven startups. 20 companies compete for three $5K grants for early stage student-run startups, and four $25K prizes are awarded to more seasoned companies, with the top hardware company receiving an additional $10K. You do not want to miss this event!
