Update from the One Australia team

We do what we do at One Australia because so many people still lack access to clean, fresh water. We want to change this by letting you know that you can make a difference just by buying One Water.

You change lives simply by changing the brand you buy. If you like what we do, please support us by spreading the word about The One Brand.

Projects update

Our 2011-2012 implementation partner Oxfam Australia continues its great work in Cambodia as part of their WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) Programme, and we’re proud to say that we have made another donation to that work from the sale of One Water this year.

The first donation we made this financial year funded the repair of 14 bore hole wells, and the installation of a new well; we also funded the training of hygiene specialists in each community. Look out for more information soon about what our most recent donation has achieved.

Our 'Do One Good Thing' campaign continues

We launched the Do One Good Thing campaign earlier this year, with adverts across radio, bus stops and magazines. The campaign continues with more adverts in newspapers and magazines, and we were supported by EYE with our advert in digital colour ads across Westfield shopping centres last month. There are more exciting adverts planned for the rest of the year, so keep your eyes open, and let us know where you see them! Our huge thanks to Mindshare and all the advertising companies who have got behind the campaign so far.

One Water becomes even more important

In the most recent budget, Wayne Swan announced that the Australian government will spend $400 million less - more than a quarter of the total budget surplus – on fighting global poverty this year (source: Oxfam Australia). Australia is not the only developed country to drastically cut the development budget.

Governments reduce development budgets to battle the financial crisis in their own countries. In other words, people in developing countries who had nothing to do with the financial crisis in the first place will now have to wait longer for a sustainable solution to the water crisis.

Do they deserve this? We don’t think so. Not having access to clean water is not just a problem for people living in developing countries. It's the problem of every person on the planet.

This means that providing safe, clean water has become harder, with less government funding available. So buying products like One Water has become even more important, as this is a sustainable source of income for funding water projects in developing countries which isn't affected by the budget.

Water Facts

Here are some harsh facts about the water crisis. They clearly demonstrate why we need to take action.

Almost 80% of diseases in so called "developing" countries are associated with water, causing some three million early deaths. For example, 5,000 children die every day from diarrhoea, or one every 17 seconds.(source: Unesco)

Diarrhoea kills more children every year than AIDS, malaria and measles combined. (source:

1.4 million children die every year from preventable diarrhoea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. This is equal to 160 school classrooms of children every day. (source: Water Aid UK)
