Dusting Things Off...

Hello there! It's been nearly a year since I've sent out a newsletter! Some of you are probably thinking, "Oh yeah, I forgot I was subscribed to this thing!" I hope you stick with me, though, and forward this newsletter to your gardening friends as well!

Last December I put the podcast on a long term hiatus. I didn't know what I was going to do with the podcast or even if I would continue. Then COVID-19 happened and suddenly I had a lot of time at home and spring was happening. It was the impetus to create the Quarantine Garden Chronicle episodes I put out through spring. Then summer happened and I knew I wanted to switch the topics of those solo episodes to something a bit more focused. I've been brainstorming where I want to take the podcast and right now I am slowly shifting the focus to incorporate a few ideas.
  • Garden Update episodes: Once a month I still plan on recording episodes about what is growing in the garden and any nature tidbits I've come across over the previous month. I really enjoy doing this because it gets me to think about how things have changed over the previous month.
  • Natural History episodes: This is the biggest shift in my solo episodes. I will be working on producing content to help guide gardeners to becoming better naturalists. Episodes will be 15-30 minutes in length and will cover everything from books to particular species and people in the natural history and gardening world.
  • Read Along/Discussion episodes: I will be picking books throughout the year to use as a read along with listeners. You can either purchase or borrow the books to read as we go or just listen to the summary each week. I'll give you the sneak peak for the book I've chosen for starting in mid-September: Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer  It is around 170 pages and we will be taking it 1-3 chapters at a time!
  • Guest Interviews: These will be infrequent but I do have a few folks I'd like to have on the podcast in the coming year.
I hope you'll stay around for these newsletter and for the podcast! I'm always open for ideas or suggestions and would love to hear what you want to learn in the coming months! Feel free to hit reply with your suggestions!

Oh, one last thing: The Garden Bloggers Fling interviewed me over on their blog---check it out!
