In this lesson students will:
  • Analyze the issues that frame the current debate on U.S. policy towards Iran.
  • Identify and articulate the core underlying values of different policy options.
  • Work cooperatively within groups to integrate the arguments and beliefs of the options into a persuasive, coherent presentation.
  • Explore, debate, and evaluate multiple perspectives on U.S. policy towards Iran.

Competing Visions of Human Rights

Application Deadline: March 16, 2012

The deadline to apply for the 2012 Summer Leadership Institute is approaching. This year, teachers will work with the curriculum unit, Competing Visions of Human Rights: Challenges for U.S. Policy. At the institute they will hear from leading scholars of international policy, explore effective instructional strategies for engaging students in the topic, and plan for outreach to other educators.
