Cape Splash Ribbon Cutting

The Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center is almost complete. The City of Cape Girardeau will celebrate with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, May 20 at noon at Cape Splash at 1565 North Kingshighway.

“This beautiful facility has many amenities,” said Recreation Division Manager Penny Williams, “including a 3,265 square-foot spray pool area with spray loops, dump buckets and a spraying dragon.”
The leisure pool area has zero depth entry, a small three-slide play system, swirl pool and a fitness area that includes six 25-yard lap lanes with a depth that ranges from 3½ feet to 9 feet. The big draw will be the four larger slides which include two open flumes and two enclosed flumes. There is also a large pavilion which can be reserved for birthday parties.
“On the more relaxing side,” said Williams, “Cape Splash has a 700-foot lazy river, large sun deck and 23 colorful shade funbrellas.” The bathhouse will include a concession stand, shower area and family changing rooms.
Cape Splash is scheduled to open to the public Saturday, May 29.Public hours will be 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. every day.
