A Few Chords from the President

Well, what a fabulous year! This will be my last piece as President. The AGM awaits and a new president is to be elected. It's been an exciting year with activities every month worthy of an organisation like BUMS.

We've had workshops, competitions, celebrations, and SPRUKE. Performers and educators have passed through our jams. We have hosted and welcomed performers from across the country and around the globe.

It behooves me to thank a great committee, Amanda Allwood - Vice President, Col Grant - Treasurer, Keryn Henderson - Assistant Treasurer, Judy Matthews - Secretary, Jo Kunde - Media Manager, Geoff Dancer - Events Manager, Blair Marks & Andrew Hunt - Properties Managers, Rob Carlyle - IT Officer, John Henderson - Gigmeister, and Dave Charles - Festival Director. Special thanks to Jo Kunde, Blair Marks, Geoff Dancer and Keryn Henderson for services above and beyond.

It’s been a great year, for sure, but it’s not over yet folks. We have one more gig on offer, with Tom the Pom (Tom Harding) coming through Brisbane on his Queensland tour, offering a “Disco Funk Ukulele & Cheeky Song with Bassline & Show” on Friday 18 October 2019. At $10 for members ... it's a steal. Keep an eye out for that email with your discount promo code.

That’s about it from me. See you all at the AGM where we hand over the reins to a new committee.

SPRUKE 2019 Wrap-up

SPRUKE 2019 was Brisbane’s fifth ukulele festival. A festival with international, national and local talent. A festival for all, for schools, for beginners, and for ukulele players of all standards, seeking to step up and play, or to step up their playing. SPRUKE 2019 was the last BUMS festival for this decade, and we wanted it to be the best.  Visit the SPRUKE website to find out more, and see who won our raffles, contests and competitions.
