Fall Down on the Trail: 9/29
The Cumberland Valley Rail Trail Council's annual fall fundraiser - Fall Down on the Trail - is coming up Saturday, September 29th. This year's event is special as it is the inauguration of the Adamantine 5 K Run, so named to honor Newville's Civil War cavalry unit, the Adamantine Guard (featured on one of the new historical marker signs along the trail.) Come on out on the 29th and have a good time running the 5 K (9 am) or doing the hike (10:30) from Newville to Oakville, followed by lunch.

Farm Tour: 10/6
The historical signs recently installed on the trail will be dedicated as part of the Cumberland County Farm Tour program on Saturday October 6th. These signs tell the story of the Cumberland Valley Railroad in the Civil War and cover the Agricultural Heritage of the Cumberland Valley. Come on out and enjoy the activities!

Trail Extension Public Meeting: 10/23
Rettew and Associates has been hired by the CVRTC to complete a master site plan for the trail extension from Newville to Carlisle. Planning will take place over the next six months and will include public meetings at which we'll need your support and advice. Mark your calendars to attend the first public meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 23rd at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be held at the Big Spring Lutheran Church, 101 Crossroad School Road, Newville.

Annual Meeting: 10/25
The Rail Trail Council's Annual Meeting will be held October 25, 7 pm at the First United Presbyterian Church (111 Big Spring Avenue, Newville). This meeting is open to the public and we will be looking for a volunteer to join the Board.
