Moving toward Carlisle, one mile at a time...

A meeting organized by officials of the PA Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) was held on August 11 at the Newville trailhead. Members of the CVRT Council and officials from Newville, West Pennsborough, Cumberland County and PennDoT were in attendance. The group discussed options for crossing over Big Spring Rd. and under Centerville Rd. (PA Rt. 233) as the trail is extended eastward toward Carlisle. The group then walked the old railroad bed from the Newville trailhead across Big Spring Rd. to where the trail would intersect with Centerville Rd. Everyone in attendance sends out a heartfelt Thank You to Dave Demoss for his great advance work in clearing the trailbed on this currently unimproved portion of the corridor.
