Summer update:

As some of you may know, our rail-trail expansion efforts have been receiving some coverage in the local media.  We know that some folks have worries about the impact this project might have on them.  At the same time we think it best to focus on the positive actions we have been undertaking in recent months.

-- Discussions are ongoing with PPL regarding their portion of the proposed trail corridor (PPL owns about 84% of the corridor between Newville and Allen Rd.).

-- We have reached out to landowners who own property on and along the trail corridor and continue to be respectful of their concerns.

-- We are in discussion with Norfolk Southern and other property owners in and around the "warehouse district" in hopes of finding a safe route from Allen Rd. into Carlisle.

-- We have met with many local groups in the area to share news of our efforts; if you would like such a presentation for your group, please do contact us:

In the meantime, if any of you feel would like to write a letter to the editor to express your support for the cause, please feel free to do so. We attach some thoughts to this email regarding the current trail and the proposed extension (see below).  The information in this attachment may give you some ideas when writing letters and in talking with friends and neighbors about the project.

In closing, we note that most land-related projects worth doing bring opposition and protest from some quarters, and rail-trails are certainly no exception.  At the same time, if we remain respectful, focused, and patient, we believe that we can see this project through to completion in due course.  Thanks for your continued support!
