||January '11 Newsletter
Happy 2011 to all Friends of the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail!
This newsletter finds quite a bit of snow on the trail with more to come. It’s a great place to walk or hike any time of the year, and right now is surely no exception. When the snow is good, the trail is also ideal for cross-country skiing. The views of North and South Mountains are much better with leaves off the trees. It’s easier to see wildlife, and the quiet beauty of the winter landscape is wonderful. So, check out the winter trail and enjoy the beautiful Cumberland Valley
It's time to renew. . .
Please take a moment to renew your membership in the Rail Trail. You can renew on line -- it's easy!
Or you can renew the old-fashioned way with these on-line instructions.
We need you. . . .
Your dues pay for maintenance and upkeep of the trail as well as support our efforts to extend the trail from Newville to Carlisle. We are making progress and continue to work hard in the pursuit of the extension to double the length of the trail. We have recently met with officials from Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Resources (DCNR) who are helping us through the process with PPL to acquire the right-of-way. Once that is achieved DCNR will also be a source of grant funding for trail construction.
