We are now just about to begin what is perhaps for some people the busiest and most stressful month of the whole year! We have searched through our resources and the internet for some great autism friendly ways of making Christmas more manageable and hopefully more enjoyable time for the whole family.

Autism Friendly Ice Skating
We were so overwhelmed by the response to the autism friendly ice skating session booked for Sunday 28th December that we have now booked an additional session for Sunday 4th January.
Tickets cost £3 each (reduced from the £5 standard price) and can be paid in advance by sending a cheque to NAS Guernsey, Apt 2 Villa Rosemount, Rue des Houmets, Castel, Guernsey, GY5 7XZ or alternatively cash or cheques can be paid on the day.
To book tickets please click this button to be taken to our new Eventbrite page
It is quick and easy. You only need to select how many tickets you would like and then will be asked for your email address so that etickets can be sent to you. If you have any difficulties using this booking system then please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can book tickets for you.
The National Autistic Society are again running their Festivitea Party
fundraiser this year. The idea is that you host a tea party event, whether it is a cake sale for your colleagues, afternoon tea for family or friends or children's party with plenty of cake! Or, how about injecting a bit of competitive spirit and holding a bake off amongst friends?
For most of us the Christmas season is full of fun, laughter and family, but for people with autism it can be a particularly difficult time: they may be confused and frightened by sudden changes of routine, unusual foods and new social activities. Holding a FestiviTea Party is a great way to get together with friends and family and raise money to help us improve the lives of people living with autism.
You can find out more details, download recipes from celebrity chefs and order a party pack online. We would love to hear what you have planned, and if you would like help to publicise a public event or celebrate your success please do let us know
We will be holding a Branch FestiviTea party on Tuesday 16th December, see below for more details.
Sensory Toy Library
We are going to be busy over the next few weeks relocating our sensory toy library to its new home at Western Community Centre (Styx) As we already use this venue for many of our family events we know that it is a great place to work from and it will make these fantastic resources much more accessible.
Beginning in January, we will be holding regular library sessions held on Sunday afternoons. At these sessions you will be able to pop up, have a cup of tea and a chat while browsing the resources and choosing things to take home and try out. As a bonus the children will be able to play in the playground!
Keep an eye on future emails and our Facebook page for more information and dates. If you might be able to help us out by going on our volunteer rota to help run the sessions then please do drop us an email and we can let you have more details: email@example.com

AGM and FestiviTea Party
Tuesday 16th December
Western Community Centre (Styx - Pine Room)
We will be holding our AGM on Tuesday 16th December to elect a Branch Officer, Treasurer and other committee members. Proposal forms will be emailed out in the next few days and will also be available on our website. You are able to propose and second one person for each position if you wish, but nominations must be received by Tuesday 9th December at the latest.
We would love to welcome some new faces to the committee. If you would like any information about what is involved in being a committee member and the types of roles that you could take on then please contact Mrs Catherine Hall (current Branch Officer) on 246025 or via email email@example.com
After the AGM our sensroy toy library will be available for browsing. New library books will also be on display and available to borrow – if you have any books on loan that you have finished with please bring them along with you for return.
To make the evening more interesting and to join in with the National Autistic Society's FestiviTea Party initiative, we are going to offer you lots of tea, coffee and cake! We thought that this would provide a good opportunity everyone, especially new families to the branch, to meet and talk without having to keep an eye on the children at the same time! We would also love to gather your views on what you would like our branch to do over the next year, and how we can best support you.
