If you're a sprint car fan, you've no doubt heard the term 'wickerbill' many times, but do you know what it is, where it is or what it does? No? Let us help!
A wicker bill is a thin, raised edge that changes the way the air flows across the wing on a sprint car. It is mounted across the back edge of the top wing. The larger (taller) the wicker bill, the greater the down force. Most series and tracks limit the maximum allowable height of the wicker bill to 2 inches.
Often, you teams will start the night with a 1-inch wickerbill when the track has more grip due to the moisture in the surface, however as the track dries out and becomes slicker, teams will change to a 2-inch wickerbill to create more downforce.
