Jordan Spieth and Elena Delle Donne Voted Athletes of the Month

When it comes to winning, September’s top honorees for the Academy’s Athlete of the Month are no strangers to it. Displaying expertise in golf and tennis for years, respectively, Jordan Spieth and Elena Delle Donne succeeded again, this time gaining favor with those making selections on the online public ballot.

Academy to Honor Joseph Sheppard as
2015 Sport Artist of the Year

Painting by Joseph SheppardChosen by the Academy’s Art Committee in June of this year, Joseph Sheppard will be recognized during the 31th Annual Academy Awards of Sport program, which has a theme of, “the Artist and the Athlete.” The event, which is open free to the public, will be held on Thursday, November 5, at 5:30 pm at the Academy’s campus in Daphne, Ala. 

The Sport Artist of the Year Award is presented to an individual who captures the spirit and life of sport so that future generations can relive the drama of today’s competition.

 Game of the Week

For the first time in the ten year history of the College Football Game of the Week program, the voting by a national blue-ribbon panel yielded two Game of the Week winners: Michigan State’s 27-23 win over Michigan and University of Memphis’ 37-24 stunning upset of #13 Ole Miss.

Features of WADA’s New List of Suspended Athlete Support Personnel 

The recently released list of ‘Suspended Athlete Support Personnel’ by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) contains 114 names, including nearly 30 nationalities, followed by either the word ‘life’ or the end date of the disqualification imposed due to anti-doping rule violations. Approximately 31% of the names are prohibited for ‘life.’
