WSCU employs sophisticated technology to monitor Visa activity for fraud. If a fraudulent purchase is suspected on your account, you will receive an automated call to validate the transaction in question. If the transaction is not validated, it will be blocked.
If you are traveling or making purchases outside of your normal routine, it is a good idea to let us know of your plans and provide us with your mobile number. This is especially important for travel outside of the U.S. We need to know what countries you will be visiting so we can authorize your card to work in those countries. Simply call us at 801-399-9728 or email us through e-Branch.
Your Visa Platinum comes with the following travel perks:
- Free auto rental insurance
- Free travel accident insurance
- Free lost luggage insurance
- Free hotel theft insurance
- Free travel reservations & car rental discounts
- Receive foreign currency at ATMs
To win, simply use your Visa Rewards credit or debit card. The more you use your card each week, the greater your chances of winning. If you do not have a rewards card, sign up and receive 500 bonus points.

Home Buying Misconceptions
If you are considering purchasing a home, be cautious of these myths.
Myth 1: Perfect credit is a must
Fact: The higher the score, the more options you will have, but those with less than perfect credit can still qualify for certain programs.
Myth 2: You must have a 20% down payment
Fact: While a 20% down payment is a great way to prepare for your dream house, it is not necessarily a deal breaker.
Myth 3: You can only lock in a rate when you are ready to buy
Fact: WSCU's Lock and Look program allows us to lock you in at the current mortgage rate for up to 365 days.
Myth 4: If you are self employed, don't bother applying
Fact: At WSCU, we have programs specifically designed to help get self-employed individuals qualified.

6 Tips for Creating an Emergency Fund
An emergency fund account should be enough to cover three to six months of your personal expenses.
1. It's all in the habit
Even if you can only do $30 per paycheck, get into the habit of regularly putting something aside. Utilize WSCU's electronic transfers to do this.
2. Say goodbye to one small luxury
Give up something you purchase regularly and won't miss, such as that ice cream or latte, and put that amount into your fund.
3. Keep the payments coming
If you have recently paid off a loan or bill, redirect that monthly amount into your fund.
4. Check the impulse
If there is something you really want, discipline yourself to wait at least a week.
5. Sell stuff
Sell unused things, such as old clothes and golf clubs, using online classifieds.
6. Keep it separate
If your emergency fund is easy to access, you might be tempted to use it for non-emergencies. WSCU's MyFund account limits withdrawals to keep you committed to saving.
Commitment to Community
Annual Meeting Recap
On April 23, 2015, WSCU hosted its 58th annual Members' Meeting. Jody Lake and Shane Schvaneveldt were elected as Weber State Credit Union Board Members, each to serve three-year terms. We thank the many members who participated in the event.
Community Shred Day
On April 25, 2015, WSCU held its Community Shred Day. At this annual event, we provided free shredding for the community. We recycled 8,400 pounds of paper, enough to save 72 trees!
On June 6, 2015, WSCU employees and friends donated their time to clean a beautiful stretch of Highway 39 in Huntsville. This marks the 11th consecutive year of our
highway clean up.
