Spring 2019 Learning Circles Final Projects 

The January to May 2019 session of Learning Circles has come to a close and was a great success. Participating were 750 participants from 25 countries, including Moldova, United States, Algeria, Belarus, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates. iEARN Online Course Impact

Congratulations to the graduates of iEARN's Spring 2019 Online Educator Course, Introduction to Online Collaboration and Global Projects. 27 teachers from 16 countries successfully completed the course, in which they learned the fundamentals of integrating collaborative, global project-based learning and virtual exchange into their classrooms. Design Squad Global Inventing Green Clubs - Join Now!

In the Design Squad Global Inventing Green Club, students will participate in engineering and invention activities focused on environmental sustainability and environmental issues that affect their communities and the world. They will also learn to design sustainable inventions and discover their ability to act as global citizens and take action toward creating a more sustainable future.  The next project cycles will run from Aug 15, 2019 - Nov 1, 2019 and Sept 15 2019 - Dec 15 2019 in the Design Squad Global Inventing Green project in the iEARN Collaboration Centre!

Calling for Projects for 2019-2020 iEARN Project Book!

We are busy gearing up for the new project cycle to begin and the 2019-2020 Project Book release! Submissions for new projects and project renewals are now open and will close on August 15th. Are you facilitating an iEARN project? Do you have an idea for a new iEARN project? The 2019-2020 iEARN Project Book will be published in September 2019 and we would love to include all new and active iEARN projects in the collection! Log into the iEARN Collaboration Centre to renew or submit a new project.

Call for Nominations for Next iEARN Youth Facilitator Group (YFG)!

The iEARN Youth Facilitator Group (YFG) is a group of 5 international youth from different geographical regions that participates in the global iEARN Assembly discussions, decisions, and activities to support iEARN worldwide. YFG members will serve a two-year term, starting in July and will help mentor a Youth Working Group (YWG), which will include other active iEARN youth who have been nominated by their country coordinators. To be eligible for the YFG, the youth must:
  • Be high school or college students (age 15 – 22 years old);
  • Be youth who are active in iEARN; team players; willing to work; and have strong cooperation, collaboration and communication skills;
  • Have ability to write and speak in English in order to contact most of the students in iEARN;
  • Have experience with iEARN projects/programs. The nominee should have at least one year experience with iEARN projects/ programs so that he/she can give help and opinion about different issues related to youth participation in different projects;
  • Have an action plan that he/she will try to carry out during acting as the Youth Representative;
  • Be active on the forums, especially the youth forum; and
  • Have regular access to the internet in order to follow up with different events, discussions or problems in iEARN.
To nominate a youth for the YFG, complete this online form. Nominations will need approval and support from your iEARN country coordinator for final selection.

Become a My World 360º Creator!

Digital Promise Global, SDG Action Campaign, and Oculus are inviting 360º media from youth worldwide with a focus on Climate Action and Reducing Inequalities. Featured stories will be screened at the UN General Assembly. Youth will find out how to tell their story, choose the production tools they want to use to capture their story, and start experimenting! To submit media, youth must download the MY World 360º Program Guide and submit their #MYWorld360 story by Aug 15th at: For youth interested in connecting with other iEARN 360/VR creators, connect in the 360 VR Cultural Exchange Forum.

Professional Development/Hosting Opportunities for Brazilian, South African and U.S. Teachers 

The U.S. Department of State's Office of English Language Programs is opening up two opportunities for Brazilian and South African teachers to come to the U.S. for Professional Development and for U.S. institution to host them. Information about the grant opportunities and all submission guidelines can be found here on FHI 360's website. For teachers/institutions interested in hosting the participants deadlines to apply are July 18-22, 2019 at 5:00 pm EST.
