|“What I learned from listening to their [Dignity's tenants] stories is that while everyone faces obstacles and experiences failure, the true measure of a person comes not from the absence of such hurdles, but having the ability to stand up again after a fall.”
-Laura Schwingel, Dignity Housing Board Chair, reflecting on Dignity's annual Tenant Recognition Reception.
Robin S., who received the Tenant of the Year Award at this year's Tenant Recognition Reception, works both a full time and part time job to support her family. When she is not working, her time is spent being a wonderful mother who takes her children on play dates to the park and other special events. Though she sometimes works from 7:00am until 10:00pm, she is tireless in pursuing her personal goals beyond work. She maintains a hefty savings account, is repairing her credit, maintaining a budget, and researching housing options beyond Dignity. In spite of many personal struggles and set-backs in the last few years, Robin shows that if you put your mind and energy into success, it can be accomplished.
