Message from CEO

On May 21st of last year I was honoured with being named the President and CEO of the Calgary Homeless Foundation. In the seven months since I took over the office, I have been constantly inspired by the passion and commitment of the many people and agencies I’ve met throughout the homeless serving sector. One of the questions I have been most frequently asked over the past 7 months is, “Do you really think you can do it, END homelessness?”

My short answer is an unequivocal “YES!”

We can; and We must. There are very vulnerable people; men, women, youth and children living in homelessness right now in Calgary, who are depending on us. Giving up is not an option. We need to continue moving forward; do the right things, make the hard choices and stay clear and focused on our role as CHF within the big picture of ending homelessness for all Calgarians. Coldest Night of the Year

The Coldest Night of the Year is a fantastically fun, family-friendly walking fundraiser that raises money for the hungry, homeless and hurting in 80+ communities across Canada. The second annual Calgary event is taking place on Saturday, February 21st, 2015. Funds raised from this initiative will support Feed the Hungry and Acadia Place, which is an affordable housing complex owned by the Calgary Homeless Foundation. It provides housing and supports for 58 formerly homeless families and families at risk of homelessness. KAIROS Calgary, an ecumenical Social Justice initiative in Calgary, is currently fundraising to pay down the mortgage on Acadia Place through the RESOLVE Campaign. To learn more, click here.
