As believers, our response needs to be to start listening deeper. Listening past the hurt, to the heart behind the hurt. We need to start speaking slower, and understand our own hearts.
God, search my heart. Why am I about to say this? What is the goal of what I’m about to do? Am I about to launch this into the air and into space and into the internet because I’m mad? Or because I want to see people pointed to Jesus and I want to see people come together?
We’ve got to start realizing the heart behind our statements. That’s where God checks us. There’s not a way to fix this outside of Jesus. The words we say are the overflow of our heart.
So as believers, God get a hold of my heart, get a hold of my ears, get a hold of my words. And let’s listen more than we talk and love people like Jesus does.
