YIHS Parent Fundraiser--
YIHS parents have lovingly crafted delicious apple pies for your holiday table. Support our school and add something scrumptious to your Thanksgiving table! (Or buy two and keep one in the freezer for your next holiday.) Place your order with Jenny at 608-606-0572. Don't delay - these pies go fast!
to YIHS Junior Jasmine Jamila-Wuerth on her acceptance to Conserve School in Land O'Lakes, WI for the spring semester. This means that Jasmine won't be with us from late January through the end of the year, but it is an exciting, all-expenses paid, educational opportunity all around. Jasmine is the second YIHS student to participate in the new Conserve School semester program (Cadan Cummings will be coming back to YIHS from there after Christmas).
Conserve School has recently approached YIHS about the idea of creating a semester boarding program based here which could be marketed in combination with Conserve for students interested in a full year boarding experience. If you have any thoughts about this, let me know!
Talk on Financing College and Student Loans
On Monday, November 21 at 1:50 pm, YIHS alumnus Silas Hundt will be speaking with the senior class on the subject of student loans and the overall process of college financial aid. All interested YIHS parents are also invited to attend.
After attending Deep Springs College and the University of Chicago, Silas has gone on to participate in the creation of alltuition.com, an all purpose student finance website company which aims to make the process of applying for and receiving financial aid and student loans easier and more affordable. Silas will talk about private and government sources of financial aid and ways to think about the costs of college.
He asks that you follow this link: http://goo.gl/hl6Ts and complete the questionnaire if you are planning to attend. If you are not able to come, but still have questions, you can contact Silas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
