Clean-up Days this week and next week!*

As we do our end-of-the-year things here at school, we would very much like to start off the summer with a good cleaning! We are hosting a Whole Plate teacher training next week and invite you to come by for an hour or two on any of the following days to help us spruce things up:

Thursday, June 14 at 1 PM

Jane and Dawn will be working on the Kitchen on Thursday the 14th and Wednesday the 20th, and would love some help from parents and students!

We are also looking for home stays for three Teacher Training participants for the evenings of June 21 and 22. If you can host one of our participants, please contact Shawn.

DUA is a non-profit group whose mission ensures the opportunity for players of both sexes to participate in organized programs of team play. We strive, for all players, to encourage passion and enthusiasm for all sports and to promote respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, referees, fans and self. The DUA program serves Driftless area children from assorted educational backgrounds, including public, private, and home schooling. Additionally, the program has attracted players from as far away as DeSoto and Hillsboro, thereby bringing a diverse group of children together to enjoy each other’s company in the freedom and discipline of sport.

Gleaning for 2012:
From Farm to Food Pantry...

2012 is an exciting year for the Food and Farm's Gleaning project. We are expanding our efforts to help bring fresh produce to our community.

The Farm to Pantry Gleaning project will glean the 2nd and 4th week of the month. Most likely we will glean on  Wednesdays (Tuesdays possibly depending on the farmer's needs.) We are also invited to "glean" the last hour of the Saturday Viroqua Farmer's Market and gather any produce that vendors want to donate: that is from 11-12 every Saturday, May-October. If you are interested in volunteering for this please let me know! This is a great activity for youth.

We will store the produce at the Fifth Season cooler in the Food Enterprise Building. All the produce will go to area food pantries and meal sites the following week. If you know of a family in need and wish to take them some produce you are welcome to do so!

Time Frame for on-farm gleaning
12:30 PM We will meet at the Food Enterprise Building (north of Walmart) and car pool to farms
1PM- we will glean selected fields
3PM -  load up vehicles
3:30PM we will unload produce into cooler
We may stay and glean longer depending on folks' availability and quantity of produce to harvest. We will always be back in Viroqua by 4:30pm.

Wednesday dates:
June 13th and 27th
July 11th and 25th
August 8th and 22nd
September 12th and 26th
October 10th and 24th
