- to Jaali Parish, who earned gold medals in three events: the 100m dash, the 4x4 relay, and the 4x1 relay at the Schultz Invitational track meet at Arcadia last Friday. She was also elected MVP for the entire meet!
Service Week, May 7-11, 2012
Service Week begins Monday and this is just a reminder that we have lots of work to do and lots of organizations to serve. Parents and students, look for a separate email with schedules. This week will include time working on Vernon Trails projects, Waswagoning, on the Lac du Flambeau Reservation, Viroqua Thrift Store, Viroqua Library, Pleasant Ridge and the Landmark Center, Valley Stewardship Network, Habitat for Humanity, and more.
Needed for Art Intensive Block
Well, we've found a few good barns and now we need some ladders. 4 or so ladders of any size would be helpful for the 3 weeks between May 14 and June 1. Contact Jacob if you have one to lend us.
End-of-Year ALL SCHOOL MEETING
We will close out the year with our Semi-Annual All School Meeting on Tuesday, May 29th, with a pot-luck starting at 6PM. Always worth attending, this year includes surprise entertainment!

PRWS 8TH GRADE PRESENTS
Don't miss the delightful adaptation of the rockin' 50's-inspired musical, Grease. Pleasant Ridge Waldorf School's 8th grade will be presenting the play at the Landmark Center at the following times:
Friday, May 4th at 6:30 PM.
Saturday, May 5th at 4 PM.
The cost will be $7 for adults, $3 for students or $20 for a family; appropriate for all ages. See you at the show!
Kwik Trip Scrip available at YIHS
We now have $50 and $20 gift cards available at school! YIHS receives 10% of the sale of each card -- this is an easy way to support our school while just doing your every day business. Please note: if you use your Kwik Trip card at the pump, you must complete the sale before your card will work inside the store.
Also - if you make regular trips to LaCrosse and could pick up our card order occasionally, please contact Liz at school.

Beehive Design Collective to Visit YIHS
On Friday, May 11, the Beehive Design Collective, based in Machias, Maine, will be visiting YIHS to do a “high energy, interactive, graphics based picture-lecture” on the topic of Mountaintop Removal Coal Mining. Please join us! This event is free and open to the public.

Biodynamic Prep Digging
Saturday, May 5
The Viroqua Biodynamic Group will hold the Prep Digging event at Chrysalis Farm on Saturday, May 5th. We welcome families with children and people interested in learning more about biodynamics to attend. Work will begin at 10 a.m. with a shared pot luck meal somewhere around noon. Driver's Ed - gearing up again
Any students 15 and older interested in taking Driver's Education this summer should register on-line at Ready Driving Academy. Students may also pick up forms in the YIHS office. Classes will begin June 11th and continue until June 29th, Monday through Friday, 8:00 - 10:00AM. If you have any questions, contact Mr. Ertl at 608-637-7498.
