Back-to-School Clean-up Day!
Saturday, August 27, 9AM - 3PM

Ready to make a difference for your YIHS teen? Nothing says "I care" like a clean school building!

Students, Parents and Faculty can all contribute to a geat first day of school. Strengthen your will forces as we dispose of the unfixable and unsightly, re-paint, re-pot and clean, clean, clean.

Basic cleaning supplies will be on hand, but we can always use extra tools, step ladders and vacuum cleaners.

Delicious snacks will be provided.

The Whole Plate--logging some miles
The Whole Plate nutrition & cooking project will go on the road again soon. Dawn and Shawn will be attending conferences near and far to demonstrate our amazing curriculum, and they are looking for donations of airline miles to defray travel expenses. Contact Shawn (shawn@yihs.net) or Dawn (dawn@rotochopper.com) if you can help.

Harvest Celebration and Parade, 2011
Help build the 2011 Viroqua Harvest puppet parade! No experience necessary!
The Viroqua Harvest Celebration & Parade is building puppets for this year's parade every Thursday afternoon, starting around 5 p.m., at the back door of Driftless Books in Viroqua. All ages are welcome--come prepared to get messy and have fun. (Parade day is Saturday, October 8.)

We're also looking for a few items to help make this year's parade a success. Can you donate any of the following?
--old latex house paint, any color
--functional casters
--old sheets/large pieces of fabric

(YIHS parents are planning to have a food booth at the celebration in October -- and they'll be raffling the tipi, below.)

Attention Student Artists!

The  Driftless Area Art Festival is sponsoring a teen level exhibition for the first time. If you are a teen, you are eligible to enter! Here are the steps:

1) email Anne Tedeschi (tede@mwt.net) your name, address, phone, age and school affiliation.

2) produce ONE art work that is ready to be hung up or displayed (if sculpture or another medium).  Your work must have your name, age, affiliation & phone affixed to the back or the bottom of your work, which should be wrapped and be accompanied by the form below. You may use any art work you have done in the last two years.

3) deliver it to the Soldiers Grove Fair Grounds on Friday afternoon, September 16th  OR, if it is more convenient, deliver it to the VIVA Art Gallery in Viroqua on Main Street by September 14th for me to pick up.

There will be a $50.00 award for Best-in-Show and an honorable mention: both winners will be featured in the window of the VIVA Art gallery in Viroqua for the month following the festival. Registration forms are available at YIHS!

Thanks! -- Anne Tedeschi
