Faculty Showcases offer an excellent introduction to what we do here at YIHS, and there will be student work on display from recent art classes. This event is open to the public, and we especially encourage curious parents of junior high schoolers to attend. See you there!

Last week's question, "What are the physical attributes of our ideal school?" was answered by 6 students, 7 faculty members, and 7 parents.  And the winner is Natural Light! "Natural light" was featured in almost every answer to the first week's question.

Squash for Sale!

College Tour Update
The Senior College Tour will be leaving from YIHS at 7:45 am on
Monday, Nov. 7
.  Students should bring $35 for gas and enough money for about 5 meals: 2 dinners, 2 lunches, and 1 breakfast.  $50 should cover it, since we will have a chance to make a shared dinner one night.  We will be returning to Viroqua at about 6 pm on Thursday, Nov. 10.  Students are expected to come to school for at least Math and Language classes on Friday, Nov. 11.

Parent Evening, Monday, November 14
Junior and Senior parents are especially encouraged to come to the November parent evening to talk about colleges and other post secondary options. Jacob will join us to share information from the previous week's college tour.

BOOM at The Fortney Underground Theater
YIHS senior, Ella Lawless, is currently appearing with the Underground Players in the fall production of BOOM, a play by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb. This production runs for three weekends only! See poster above or call 608-606-0840 for performance dates and further details.

   Kaleidoscope --  Call for Submissions
Calling all faculty, parents, and alumni!  The upcoming Kaleidoscope will focus on the 9th grade year.  We request your submission of tales, anecdotes, wisdom, sentiments, and memories of your own 9th grade year.  Submissions should be 100 words or less and can be humorous, poignant, embarrassing, inspiring, and all the rest.  Please e-mail submissions to  If you want to remain anonymous, please state this.

Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream for Sale
In the weeks to come, the PRWS 8th grade will be selling regionally produced, super-premium, Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream on Fridays in the PRWS gym from 3:00-4:00PM as a fundraiser for their 8th grade class trip.

Compassionate Communication Workshop

A Retrospective of Nature's Art

This event will feature a showing of Rick's spectacular nature photography priced to sell, as well as a live auction of some of his more stunning pieces. There will also be a silent auction, food, and entertainment. Suggested admission price is $20, please come and pay what you can.

Many of you know that Rick has been diagnosed with stage 4 mesothelioma. This event is a fundraiser for Rick and Peg. Please plan to attend and share in this life celebration of our dear friend Rick.
