YIHS to Administer ACT PLAN Test
Friday, April 27
YIHS will be offering the ACT PLAN test for all students in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. PLAN is a practice standardized test geared towards helping students to prepare to take the ACT, one of the two major national college entrance exams. Since YIHS does very little timed multiple-choice testing, this is a great opportunity to experience what it will be like to take either the ACT or SAT, which is basic entrance requirement for most colleges. The results of the ACT PLAN will be released to the students, their parents, and YIHS, but not to colleges or any other organizations, unless the student chooses to do that. The test will take about 3 hours and will be free of charge for YIHS students. Non-YIHS students may also take the test for a fee of $12.
We plan to administer the test to all students in grades 9, 10, and 11, unless we are officially notified by parents that they would not like their students to take the test. To opt your son or daughter out of the test, please send a note to Jacob Hundt by Friday, March 9.
To help get ready for this test, Jacob will be offering a series of test prep sessions after school during late March and mid-April. We also hope to organize a formal SAT/ACT prep class, which would also be great preparation for the PLAN.
If you have any questions about all of this, please contact Jacob at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Narrated and Produced by Matt Damon, directed and created by Charles Ferguson. Winner at Cannes, Telluride, Toronto and New York film festivals. Includes Bush, Bernanke, Geitner, Obama and a host of "interested parties". No admission charged, donation buckets will be available if you feel motivated.
Public, open for RSVP.
This is a MoveOn.org party
The Turning Place: Where Spirit and Earth Meet, is a center to hold meetings and activities related to Spiritual Science and its fruits. The Turning Place moved from Main Street last summer and after organizing the space and the library, the steering committee feels ready to offer a small program or festival study at each monthly meeting. We invite you to share in what we hope will be a nurturing activity.
Our monthly Turning Place meeting will take place on the second Monday of the month. The next meeting is Monday evening February 13, 2012 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Room 202, Landmark Center. For those who wish to socialize and browse the anthroposophical library, we will open at 6:30 pm.
The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm with our study this month on Rudolf Steiner’s Verse for America and we will work with Annette Conlon to move it with Eurythmy.
At 8:00 we will begin our business meeting, looking ahead to other monthly topics for the coming year. If you would like to be part of the planning, we welcome your ideas. If not, people can leave at this time.
Our monthly meetings are open to all who share an interest in the work of Rudolf Steiner and anthroposophy. We invite local friends of anthroposophy to share their work with us during these meetings, so let us know if you are interested in presenting some time during the year. We would like to have a statement describing your presentation or an outline; we also plan to have festival studies four times during the year (March, June, Sept., Nov).
