FVPS News - Feb. & March 2015

Welcome, members and friends, to our first newsletter of 2015.

Welcome, too, to new subscribers who added their name to our list at the Highstreet Christmas Market.

The Fraser Valley Poets Society has been in hibernation for the past several months. But it's February and time to wake up!

Please note these upcoming free events and plan to attend!

February 19 - Emily Isaacson Book Launch
FVPS member Emily Isaacson is launching her new book A Familiar Shore on February 19th - 7:p.m. at The Reach.

March 2nd - FVPS Open Mic public reading
This Open Mic evening will happen at the usual time and place:
6:30 - 8:30
Clearbrook Library
32320 George Ferguson Way
Abbotsford, B.C.
Please contact Brayden Sawatzky when you arrive to be added to the list of readers.

March 23rd - Blue Moon Reading & Workshop with Emily Pohl-Weary
6:30 - 8:30
Clearbrook Library
32320 George Ferguson Way
Abbotsford, B.C.

Our special guest on March 23rd is Emily Pohl-Weary (UFV Writer-In-Residence)
Emily will read from a newly published book of poems (Ghost Sick) and do a workshop. There will not be an open mic this evening. If there is reading time, it will be taken up with sharing what we've written during the workshop.

Logo Contest:
With our new name (Fraser Valley Poets Society) we need a new logo. Please start thinking about and doodling your beautiful, classy, iconic ideas. Send your creations to Alvin Ens. There will be a contest deadline, a grand prize, and a little something for each person who submits an idea. Details to come soon.

Facebook Page:
We now have our own Fraser Valley Poets Society Facebook page. If you're on Facebook drop in and like our page. Thanks  to Terry Broadworth for setting this up for us and overseeing much of the activity!

Website:
Check our website for details of upcoming events. Please also visit the Poetry Around Town page for other community events of interest to writers.
