FOX Sports connected fans with the world’s biggest sporting event over digital platforms in more ways than ever before. In addition to 24/7 on-site coverage and original shows from FOX Sports’ digital platforms, FOX’s Super Bowl LIV broadcast was made available to streaming audiences in English and Spanish in a record number of ways: on the FOX Sports App, FOX Now, FOXSports.comFOXDeportes.com, the NFL app, NFL.com and Yahoo Sports (mobile devices). The game was also available on the 49ers’ and Chiefs’ mobile properties.

All About That Bass During Halftime Show

The halftime show at Super Bowl LIV in Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium marked the first collaboration between the NFL and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. Performers Jennifer Lopez and Shakira were chosen in part to appeal to as broad an audience as possible, but Mr. Carter’s affinity for urban music genres were represented in the shows’ low-frequency energy. To get that bass across, ATK Audiotek, which provided the augmented PA system for the halftime show for the 23rd year, brought an arsenal of subs.

Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment, Hard Rock Stadium Team Up to Produce the Crown Jewel of In-Stadium Shows

Game Creek Video 10-Truck Presence Drives Fox Sports Stadium Production

Super Bowl LIV featured a super presence from Game Creek Video, with 19 trucks and 45 technicians on hand to support clients like Fox Sports, NFL Network, and ESPN. And when it came to the production of the big game itself, Game Creek Video was front and center with 10 trucks supporting the Fox Sports efforts at Hard Rock Stadium.

The NEP presence at Super Bowl LIV was nearly 80 people strong as its companies like Bexel, CT, AVS, Fletcher, SOS, and, of course, NEP’s fleet of trucks played a role for everyone from NFL Films for the World Feed and more, Fox Sports for its South Beach Studio operations, Hard Rock Studio compound, and game coverage, and ESPN for its international feed.

Canon 8K Efforts Expand in Miami

Canon Broadcast had a team of seven people on hand for the Super Bowl. The team not only made sure nearly 55 HD and UHD lenses were operating at a top-level, but also had a role in the use of three Canon 8K lenses that were coupled with Sony UHC-8300 cameras to give the Fox Sports production team an even greater ability to extract up-close images.

SkyCam’s Daredevil-like Rigging System Delivers Unique Live Angles

Super Bowl LIV was still more than half of a year away when Stephen Wharton, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer for SkyCam, called Fox Sports’ SVP of Technical and Field Operations Michael Davies with a wild idea. SkyCam deployed a pair of its SkyCam Wildcat units rigging one of them, not to the base of the roof as is the standard spot, but rather to the top of the 357-foot spires that tower over Hard Rock Stadium following the renovation of the building in 2016.

 
 
ESPN International Calls NEP EN2 Home for the Big Game

ESPN International called NEP’s EN2 home for Super Bowl LIV, a pleasant surprise for Jim Orton, ESPN’s operations manager, and the rest of the team. The technical team for the International show numbered about 30 and tapped into NEP’s Super B which was where multiple feeds from Fox Sports and NFL Network were available for request.

ESPN Expands South Beach Presence To Meet Programming Needs

Broadcasting from South Beach is nothing new for ESPN, which has studios at the Clevelander on Ocean Drive. And, for Super Bowl LIV, the broadcaster upped its presence across the city, with two studios in Lummus Park across the street from the Clevelander and two on Radio Row at the Miami Beach Convention Center. ESPN’s activities culminated at Hard Rock Stadium for the game itself with pre/postgame coverage.

Bleacher Report’s B/R Gridiron Makes First On-Site Appearance at Super Bowl Week

Within the four walls of a professional sports franchise can be a pretty superstitious place.
