Live From The Open Championship: CTV OB Tackles New Course, IP

The 148th Open Championship is into its second day of competition at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. Since the tournament hasn't been at this location since 1951, CTV OB and ETP have seen some firsts for the production, including the compound being located on a beachside parking lot and a set-up stoppage during biblical rains that caused serious flooding.

On the first day of The 148th Open at Royal Portrush, Sky Sports introduced what it calls Sky Scope, in which presenter Nick Dougherty demonstrated the golf swings of Dustin Johnson and Henrik Stenson at The Open Zone in 3D virtual reality, thanks to a brand new volumetric capture process.

NBC Sports’ Tour de France Coverage Adds Augmented Reality, Live On-Bike POV Cameras

As the peloton treks through brutal Pyrenees stages of the Tour de France this weekend, NBC Sports Group is providing U.S. cycling fans with a deeper look at the action than ever before. The Peacock has deployed several new production tools for its coverage of the 21-day race, including an AR-based virtual-graphics and telestrator system in the studio and, for the first time, live feeds from POV cameras mounted on several competitors’ bicycles.

Immersive Innovations Help France Télévisions Tell the Story of Each Stage of the Tour de France

Jean-Maurice Ooghe is currently directing the 23rd production of the Tour de France for France Télévisions. The early Stages this past week were largely benign for the peloton, before heading into the high mountains and individual time trial challenges towards the end of Week Two of the race. Over the years and thanks to the new technologies driving change, Ooghe has significantly developed the scripting for this major sporting event.
