Throughout the two-plus decades that ESPN has been producing X Games, one of its primary missions has been to bring fans as close to the action as possible with some of the most effective angles in all of live sports production. That tradition continues this week at X Games Aspen 2020, where ESPN and production partner Echo Entertainment have deployed a new high-speed drone to provide a new perspective to viewers.

X Games Aspen 2020: ESPN Serving Next-Gen Fans with ‘Jam Session’ Format, New TikTok Channel

Now in its 24th incarnation, ESPN’s Winter X Games event continues to evolve in an effort to better serve viewers – regardless of what platform they may be viewing on. With that in mind this year, ESPN increased the number of “jam session” events this year in Aspen – allowing for more live competition with less down time between runs. In addition, ESPN production efforts have gone well beyond linear coverage, distributing content across a host of digital and social platforms, as well as officially launching the X Games TikTok channel earlier this week.

NFL Pro Bowl: ESPN Further Experiments With 8K Technology

Before Super Bowl LIV kicks off in Miami, the NFL’s best players of the season will head 223 miles north to Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL, for the 2020 Pro Bowl. Covering the game for another year, ESPN will continue its push toward 8K technology with a Panasonic 8K camera at the 50-yard line.
