Our Streets Aren't Clean: Does This Story Sound Familiar? 👇

A few weeks ago, a constituent approached me, while I was campaigning, to talk about the garbage on Union Turnpike near 134th Street.  And, it's clear, this garbage is dumped illegally.

So, like many of you do regularly, I reported the garbage to the Department of Sanitation.  And they assured me that it would be cleaned up within five business days.

Five days later, no.  It was still there.

Ten days later, no.  It was still there.

So, with a volunteer neighbor's help, we removed the rubbish from the sidewalk.  But that's not enough and it's not okay.  We should expect clean and safe streets.
My ideas:
✅ Find and fine those that are dumping garbage
✅ Hold the Department of Sanitation accountable for swift clean up and understand any obstacles to getting this done faster
✅ Organize and reward the volunteers who want to keep our streets clean

What are your ideas to clean up our streets?  I'd love to hear from you. 👍
