Magnum Professional Practice

Magnum Photos and new educational partners IdeasTap are pleased to announce the first of five UK Magnum Professional Practice events, to be held in Liverpool, June 2011. Magnum's Professional Practice events provide photographers with impartial advice on different areas of the photography industry, led by the most experienced professionals. Bursary places are available for young photographers under 25 years old.

Magnum Photos & IdeasTap Photographic Award now open

This unique Award, now in its second year, offers 12 shortlisted photographers aged 16-30 years the opportunity to receive mentoring from Magnum photographers, £6,500 cash funding, an internship with Magnum London or the chance to create a Magnum In Motion essay with Magnum New York. The Award is split into two age categories and applications are now open.

New Exhibition

Take To The Streets by Magnum photographers

Take To The Streets is an outdoor exhibition of street photography featuring over 100 images by seven of Magnum's most prolific documentary photographers, including Bruno Barbey, Trent Parke and Alex Webb. The exhibition, originally curated for the Format International Photography Festival, now travels to Birmingham, UK for its second tour.

Jim Goldberg wins Deutsche Börse Photography Prize

Goldberg was announced as the winner of the 2011 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize at a ceremony in London on 26th April. Broadcaster and critic Miranda Sawyer presented the £30,000 prize to the photographer, who had been nominated for his acclaimed exhibition 'Open See' at The Photographers' Gallery in 2009. A spokesperson for the award said Goldberg's work was a "timely and inventive approach to documentary practice".
