Magnum Contact Sheets

Produced in conjunction with the publication Magnum Contact Sheets (Thames & Hudson, Nov 2011) the Magnum Print Room is delighted to present a complementary exhibition featuring over 30 intriguing early and original contact sheets by classic and contemporary Magnum photographers. Some are displayed alongside their final images, such as Thomas Hoepker’s vintage contact sheet featuring Muhammed Ali and Susan Meiselas' powerful Carnival Strippers.

Bangladesh: On The Frontline of Climate Change by Jonas Bendiksen

Jonas Bendiksen documents the effects of global climate change and its impact on the vunerable environment of Bangladesh. Despite having little influence on this international problem, Bangladesh, with existing problems of over population and poverty, faces an increasing risk from climate change. But resilient residents are fighting back with determination and creativity against the rising tides.

This landmark book presents an unparalleled wealth of unpublished material, revealing the story behind many iconic and historical images of modern times taken by the world’s most celebrated photographers. Special edition books are available consisting of a clothbound copy of book placed in a presentation case, with an individual 16 x 12” giclee contact sheet selected from a series of 10 printed in editions of 50. Each contact sheet is numbered, stamped & embossed.

Theatre of War by Moises Saman

Moises Saman has been documenting the events unfolding in Libya under the regime of Colonel Gaddafi since the beginning of 2011. This new Magnum In Motion documents Libya and it's people in the final days before Gaddafi's death.

In this weekend lecture, leading figures of the photographic industry will deliver presentations and advice on the best means in engaging with and working in the visual arts sector. Eight high profile speakers from the advertising & corporate, editorial, gallery, NGO, museum, publishing and rights managed sectors will give presentations on their subject of expertise, with plenty of time for questions and networking opportunities.

Outposts by Donovan Wylie

Throughout his career, Belfast-born Wylie has remained fascinated by the ways in which conflict shapes environments and lives. His earlier works have been influenced by the impact of the Troubles on his homeland and the theme of surveillance can be seen in project The Maze prison and British Watchtowers. This new commission looks at the architecture of war and serves as a visual documentary of the temporary 'homes' created during conflicts.

Magnum Contact Sheets: The Symposium

Hosted by the Photography Department of London College of Communication, this one-day event will discuss and address the topics raised by the new book Magnum Contact Sheets; in particular the issues highlighted in the foreword written by Kristen Lubben, Associate Curator of the International Center of Photography, New York. The Symposium will include speakers such as Simon Baker of Tate and Martin Barnes of V&A.
