Welcome to Inspire Learning
Teaching School Hub

We hope that the Summer term has started smoothly for everyone.

It is hard to believe that our Hub has only been operational since September 2021. So much has happened and we are delighted that so many schools have engaged with us.

Last half term we welcomed Fiona McCrudden-Bruce (Project Manager) and Victoria Jackson (Administrator) to the Hub team. As the scale of our work has grown, they have added capacity and are excellent additions to the team.

We are supporting the development of over 330 early career teachers and 320 mentors and over 190 school leaders across a range of the reformed National Professional Qualifications. Our team of excellent facilitators is drawn from many of your schools and their expertise is valued. We are keen to continue to invest in their development.

As we approach the second year of national roll out for the early career framework, we are recruiting additional facilitators to lead our clusters of ECTs. Details of an information session along with links to an application form can be found below. A similar process will be followed to recruit facilitators for next year’s National Professional Qualifications.

Even though we are still in the throes of the current academic year, attention is turning to preparations for 2022/23. With this in mind, we wanted to make you aware of some changes and developments from the Department for Education.

Changes to the registration processes for Early Career Teachers are imminent although you do not need to action them immediately. To explain the changes and guide you through them, we are holding webinars for Headteachers and/or Induction Tutors. Details can be found below.

Further information can be found below and on our website

Registering ECTs for September

As many of you will be aware, now is the time to start thinking about how you will provide the statutory Early Career Framework CPD for any Early Career Teachers (ECTs) new to the profession in September 2022. The DfE have made some significant changes to the process. We are keen to help support you in navigating these.

Considering this, we are putting on a webinar to explain the process for registering new ECTs and answer your questions. The webinar will be repeated on two different occasions to make it easier for you to attend:

Option 1 – Tuesday 24th May, 4-5pm
Register in advance for this meeting (this is not the meeting link, you will receive the link once you have registered):

Option 2 – Thursday 26th May, 9.30 – 10.30am
Register in advance for this meeting (this is not the meeting link, you will receive the link once you have registered):

Further support and information regarding ECF:

The DfE website now has a comprehensive suite of guidance about managing ECTs. The link below will take you to a page that is regularly updated.

ECTs who have started the programme in April

We have had an extra 20 ECTs start working with us in April and we are very pleased to welcome them to Inspire Learning and UCL’s ECF programme. We held the ‘Welcome Webinar’ for these ECTs on Tuesday 10th May and you can find the recording of this on our website in case you missed it.

ECTs who have just begun their journey need to make sure they have access to the UCLeXtend online platform as this is where all of the programme materials can be found. Mentors must also make sure they have access. It is highly important that each individual access the materials via their own login as this is how the DfE track engagement and issue funding (e.g. please do not ‘share’ a login to watch a recording).

ECTs starting in April should be starting with Module 4. They will then complete modules 1-3 starting in September 2022. You can access the ‘Module Map’ which outlines ECF content on a weekly basis here.

If an ECT was not registered with us by 5pm on Thursday 5th May, they will not be able to start the ECF programme until September 2022.

ECF Facilitator Recruitment

We are currently looking to recruit some new Early Career Framework Facilitators to work with us next academic year. The role involves working with a group of 'Early Career Teachers' (ECTs) across two academic years, supporting them in their development and understanding of the Early Career Framework.

We are holding an information webinar on the 20thMay, 4-5pm, where there will be a chance to ask questions and hear from someone currently doing the role. In order to join this webinar, please sign up here .

Who would be suitable?

The role would be suitable for an experienced teacher working at any age phase. In particular, those in middle or senior leadership positions would be suitable, although this is not essential.

What is the time commitment?

There is flexibility with regards to this, but on average the role takes about 8.5 days across the academic year. School’s receive payment to release teachers to do this.

If you are interested in the role (or know someone who might be), you can complete this application form, or contact us at

CPD needs analysis

As the Teaching School Hub for Liverpool & Wirral, Inspire Learning are tasked by the DfE to provide high quality CPD that meets local need. We are particularly keen to create opportunities that are bespoke and responsive and do not duplicate already existing high quality offers.

To ensure we do this successfully, we are asking for your opinions in this very short form. This will enable us to effectively target resources and develop the CPD offer you actually want. Many thanks to schools who have already submitted their response.

This form has been designed to take no more than 2 minutes of your time.

FINAL CALL: Please complete it by providing as much information as possible before 13th May 2022 to allow time for us to analyse the information and formulate our intentions, before submitting to the DfE.

If your school has not yet submitted a response, please use the link provided. Only one response per school is required.
