ONA10: Online News Association Conference & Online Journalism Awards
Dear Benet

Where is digital journalism headed? To the 2010 Online News Association Conference and Awards Banquet, held Oct. 28-30 in beautiful downtown Washington, D.C. Join us for what has become a great big meetup with ahead-of-the-curve training and presentations, discussions with industry leaders, unparalleled networking, and, of course, the Online Journalism Awards.

Rates for ONA10 general passes are still at ONA09 prices: $399 for ONA members, $699 for non-members. Student passes are the same, too: $150 for ONA student members; $175 for non-members. The Career Summit & Job Fair is now free for ONA student members, $25 for all other ONA members and $50 for non-members.

Not a member? Become one today. For a one-year, $75 membership, you save $300 on the conference — not to mention other fabulous benefits. Students get the same membership benefits — and lower student rates — for just $25 a year.

We might sound like a broken record, but … the conference has sold out fast for the past three years, so register early. Early-bird registration ends at 11:59 ET on Thursday, Sept. 30. After that, rates increase to $599 for members and $899 for non-members. Student rates stay the same.

So, what’s in store for ONA10?

  • The third annual Career Summit & Job Fair will be held Thursday, Oct. 28. If you’re in the job market, you’ll find out where the digital journalism jobs are and how to best position yourself to land one. If you’re looking to jump start your career, you’ll learn the skills and trends to help you do that. And if you’re a recruiter, you’ll find prime candidates for your openings. We promise.
  • Keynote speakers will be announced in the coming weeks — but we can tell you they’re great. (But no Twitter CEO Evan Williams — that was last year.)
  • ONA10 programming will feature forward-looking sessions and tracks submitted — and voted on — by you through the ONA10 Session Selector.
  • Pre-Conference Workshops will be held Thursday, Oct. 28. As usual, they’ll be a half day or full day, intensive, hands-on and worth coming a day early. Sessions will be announced and open for registration in June.
  • The ONA10 Student Newsroom has been selected. Who are the young journalists who will cover the conference? Names — and a surprise — coming soon.

Volunteer — and get a nice conference discount
The ONA10 committee is looking for volunteers to work before, during and a little bit after the conference, to pitch in on the registration desk, set up signs and tables, stuff bags, act as guides for session attendees and Job Fair recruiters — among other things. In return, you’ll get a discount on ONA10 registration. Interested? Read more about it and submit your info to our ONA10 Volunteer Chairs at
