News from the Town of Needham
Good morning, Needham!
Thank you to everyone who shoveled out sidewalks, fire hydrants and their neighbors (!) during last weekend’s snow storm. Needham received about 20 inches of snow over the course of Friday night into Saturday.
Needham Public Works worked through the weekend and into Monday to clear the roads, sidewalks and school and municipal parking lots. On Monday night, crews removed 6,430 cubic yards of snow from the Downtown and the Heights, while continuing to clear sidewalks, particularly along school routes.
Thank you to the generous residents who supplied staff with snacks and to everyone for their patience and kindness during the storm.
In Needham, we’re beginning to see a decline in COVID-19 cases after a surge last month that followed the state and national case spike. At-home testing is becoming more available as demand decreases and state and federal governments have expanded access to tests. Needham Public Health has created a new Frequently Asked Questions document to help answer questions you may have about at-home testing.
To better track positive cases in Needham, Needham Public Health has also created a Google Form for residents to report their positive tests. Currently, only PCR tests are included in Needham’s official case count. This will help give public health officials a better picture of how COVID is impacting the community. Please note, the department will not contact you or conduct contact tracing. The data you provide is for informational purposes only.

All children who reach five years of age by August 31,2022 are eligible for admittance to the kindergarten program. Children who were included in the last Town census should have already received a letter in the mail indicating how to register for kindergarten. If you plan to send your child to kindergarten next year and have not received a letter in the mail yet, please email Corine Burke.
To plan class sizes and educational program appropriately, it is important for NPS to know your plans for your child's school registration for the 2022-23 school year. If you did receive a letter, but will not be sending your child to kindergarten, please let NPS know.

After 90 years, Muzi Site Demolished
Just ahead of last Saturday’s winter storm, bulldozers were spotted taking down the buldings that remained on the former site of the Muzi Ford and Chevrolet dealerships on Highland Ave. The dealership, identified by its massive MUZI FORD signs occupied the site for 90 years.
