Our lives in Africa no. 33
Dear friends in Christ,
Last year, the population of the world exceeded 7 billion.  I was surprised to find that the scientist estimated that total of 100 billion people have lived and died on earth.  I don't know how many will go to heaven out of that 100 billion who ever lived on earth, but heaven must be a big place.  How large could heaven be?  I don't think that my mental/spiritual capacity to commune/fellowship with people will grow to 100 billion even if I go to heaven.  Then, it tells me two important things about heaven, my relationship with God and what I have bound on earth when I'm entering the kingdom of heaven.  How I shape the kingdom of heaven on earth will carry significant meaning in heaven.  It is so because my new begnninig started when I was renewed by the blood of Jesus, not when I die and go to heaven.  Now, my heaven consists of you and the people we serve.  I want to thank you for being there for us and hope we can be an encouragement to you as you are to us.  I will know you eternally.

It has been more than ten years since African Leadership had its vision statement casted.  It was emphasized on fulfilling God given potential.  Early January, we went to Ladismith to cast our new vision for the next ten years.  I have to say it was the most enjoyable retreat I have ever been to.  No offence to any of the hard working people who organized and provided for my previous retreat experience, but this one was so peaceful and comfortable, yet deeply meaningful to me.  It may have been the fact that everyone there were co-labourers for a common goal for the kingdom.  The ways we function were similar and especially the way we find value was similar.  In the end, we came up with this very statement, 'African Leadership is people empowering communities to train leaders and make disciples reaching the world for God's kingdom.'  Would you watch us and even join us to see how God uses us to fulfil this vision?

Pumsa has a 6 year old daughter.  Pumsa lost her mother early and lived with her father for a long time.  Last year her father got married to a woman and Pumsa and her daughter were asked to leave the house.  Without a proper job or any support, she moved in with her pastor's family.  Now, she lives on the next street in Zola where we do our Children's Church.  Pinky recommended her as our new teacher trainee.  She has been working with us last week or so and she has been wonderful.  She is rather quiet and timid, but we see great potential in her.  This morning she officially enrolled in our preschool as a teacher trainee and became a part of our family.  I asked her what she wishes for her daughter and she said, "For her to finish school and get a good job."  Since Pumsa only finished grade 10 without a job, they are her biggest heartache.  I shared that most parents wish things for their children that they couldn't have or didn't do, but that limits our children.  When we guide our own children including the children she will serve in the preschool, we have to continuously help them to find what God has planned for them, not what we wish for them.  We pray that we can help her find God's special plan for her.

With love,
Abohna, Helen and Jung

Prayer items/ update

Our search for land to build our preschool has been resumed.  We have a possible site, and waiting to see how God will lead us.  Many plots that we looked at last year didn't work out.  Please continue to pray that we can be patient.

Our visa has been approved and waiting for our permanent residency.  Thank you for your prayers.

African Leadership's missionary Joy Sim and Nopinky have started a gardening project at Liyabona Montessori Preschool.  Every Wednesday they will visit us and teach children gardening.  Please pray that the project can be used greatly for the township children.
